Kimono completed!

Kimono from a duvet cover PART 2

I joined the inner and outer parts together and edge stitched the sleeves. Joining the collar was a challenge but with lots of pins it is doable! The collar needed stitching along the top edge. It also needed stitching along the edge where it joins the shoulders. The neck opening and down the front of the kimono also needed stitching.

It’s part of the style to partially close the sleeves so that you can use the sleeve as a shallow pocket. I haven’t done that.

I am really happy with the result especially since the free pattern didn’t have any instructions at all.

The sash belt for this kimono had to be made out of remnants. This occurred because the garment took up most of the material. The sash is, thus, made out of squares of material. One side of the sash is the visible pattern and the other side is the lining material.

Technically, this garment is fully reversible. I think the flowery side makes sense to be on the outside. The lining has a less busy design.
